Winnipeg, Manitoba
Third Year Architecture Student
First Term: Through model making, and drawings I was able to explore the components of my vision (the periphery, depth of field, detail) and the act of viewing within an interior and exterior space from multiple views points (below and at eye level).
Second Term: Through my concept from first term, vision and the act of viewing, I wanted to continue exploring my chosen site; a tunnel located on Arthur Street and Albert Street. I was inspired by Pet Architecture found in Japan, and their utilization of such small, narrow spaces such as alleyways. Through further explorations, I also became interested in the act of stitching, and fragmentation. With these concepts, I wanted to create a Tailor Shop within this tunnel and its existing conditions. I constructed the tailor shop, room by room, exploring the relationship between myself and space, through an experiential approach rather than a formal approach. I wanted to create depth by revealing specific actions of the seamstress and/or customer.
